The inaugural Modernism Week Golf Tournament is sure to be un-fore-gettable!
“When President Dwight D. Eisenhower completed his presidency and left the White House in 1961, he soon headed to the Coachella Valley. […] The 34th President of the United States, like many before and after him, loved to golf. He played at numerous golf courses around the desert, including Tamarisk Country Club, Thunderbird Country Club, and the La Quinta Country Club, which he dedicated on Oct. 23, 1960. However, Eisenhower’s most storied golf moment took place at Seven Lakes Country Club in Palm Springs.
On Feb. 6, 1968, President Eisenhower shot his only hole-in-one on the 13th hole at Seven Lakes. The former president’s legendary hole-in-one has become a celebrated part of the country club’s historic past.” – via Palm Springs Life
In 2022, we’re taking Modernism Week to a new level with a tee-riffic event that even Ike would like: the inaugural Golf Par-Tee and Tournament at Seven Lakes Golf & Country Club!
Originally designed by architect Ted Robinson and opened in 1965, the Seven Lakes Golf & Country Club is known as the “Gem of the Desert.” This executive course is set against the stunning backdrop of Mt. San Jacinto, and features just over 2,700 yards with 14 par-3s, four par-4s and seven man-made lakes. Rarely open to guests, this special club is one of the architectural highlights of the midcentury “leisure life” from 1960’s Palm Springs.
