Modernism Week Today – 02.26.17

Modernism Week’s daily dispatch announcing available tickets and last minute news.

It’s the final day of Modernism Week, but the fun isn’t over yet! Tickets are no longer available online for today’s events but they are available at CAMP or at the door. Remember, cash is preferred. Here’s what you need to know about Modernism Week today.

CAMP

Grab yourself a mimosa from Cheeky’s To Go and join Alfa Romeo for a free screening of the quintessentially stylish 1960s film, The Italian Nob at 10 a.m. Then stick around to meet the mind behind The Christopher Kennedy Compound: Modernism Week Show House 2017 and author of Making Midcentury Modern, Christopher Kennedy, who will be giving a special presentation and book signing. Don’t forget to stop by the Ferguson Kitchen for featured cooking demos at 10 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. with Thermador executive chefs Paul and Michaele, with casual demos and sampling in between.

Catch a last minute opportunity to ride through Palm Springs on a Double Decker Architectural Bus Tour, Sunny Cycle Electric Bike Tour or in a new Alfa Romeo Giulia – all with openings today, departing from CAMP.

Tours

It’s your last chance to tour some of this year’s most exciting homes, like the new Chino Canyon Project (tours $50) where the final cocktails of Modernism Week will be served at the sunset reception from 4:30-6:00pm ($65), and The Christopher Kennedy Compound ($40). If a leisurely bike ride or drive through Palm Springs’ most colorful neighborhoods is more your style, don’t miss the Palm Springs Door Tour ($20) presented by Dunn-Edwards Paints and curated by Palm Springs Style, departing from The Saguaro between 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Exhibitions + More

We love a good yard sale, especially when it’s filled with a mix of midcentury treasures and one-of-a-kind furnishings. Stop by the Modernism Yard Sale located this year at H3K Design from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. (free). Discover a diverse collection of trailers, buses, motorhomes and vintage tow vehicles at the Vintage Travel Trailer Show ($10-$20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.). Finally, celebrate the centennial of architect William F. Cody and his seminal contribution to modern architecture during the “FAST FORWARD: Architecture of William F. Cody” exhibition ($10), which takes place alongside the E. Stewart Williams exhibit (free), also at the Palm Springs Public Library.
