For concrete evidence, one had to look no further than the Darth Vader and Stormtroopers positioned at the entrance to the Palm Springs Air Museum during Space Modyssey 2020, the kick-off gala for the 11-day celebration of the Coachella Valley’s architecture and design heritage last Thursday night.”

This year’s Modernism Week Opening Night Party was inspired by atomic age design and the era of the space race. Out-of-this-world cuisine, futuristic fashion, and a rousing rendition of David Bowie’s greatest hits (as performed by Space Oddity) made for an evening that was truly out of this world.
