Mexico City Modern

unam-1.0

In recent years, Mexico City’s reputation as an international cultural landmark has been revived but fans of modernism have always known about this standout design destination.

While we’d love nothing more to whisk you away on a design getaway to Mexico City, this February we’ve got the next best thing. For the first time, Modernism Week has curated a day of programming highlighting the Mexican capitol’s influence on Latin America’s modernism aesthetic.

On Monday, February 20th, the Annenberg Theater will host a day of talks highlighting Mexico City’s most epic contributions to the world of design, from University City of the UNAM and architect Luis Barragan’s Gardens of El Pedregal to the design projects of the 1968 Olympics and the fountain at Sunnylands, inspired by a 40 foot carved bronze fountain at Mexico City’s Museo Nacional de Antropologia.

Tickets can be purchased individually for each presentation or make it a Mexico Modern Monday and attend the whole shebang! Package tickets also include lunch and admission to the Palm Springs Art Museum. The full rundown can be viewed and tickets purchased here. Treat yourself to this exciting virtual getaway before it’s sold out!
